Now for a little recap for you all!
Question 1: Twitter for business or pleasure? Do you separate them? Have different handles?
Parkeretc: Both.1 account with my blog handle and 1 for my personal life. Helps create a more cohesive experience for myself & followers
Amandagenther: I don’t separate them. For business & pleasure. People can get a good idea of who are you that way.
Mspinkandblue: I just have 1 for biz but since I sometimes bring up personal things in my blog- Ill mix in a event or 2 I find interesting
Parketetc: Having a separate twitter for the blog helps build blog brand & not interfere with my personal interests & followers
Sister_mag: Yes, separating also helps follower recognizing the brand more coherently again.
Designmedaily: exactly! and like everyone has mentioned, if you are your brand it would be strange to separate the two.
Question 2: What’s the best way to gain new followers?
Parkeretc: Follow ppl in your niche & watch their tweets. Pay attention to the type of content & how they address their audiences.
Amandagenther: Give interesting content & get involved. If people see you as an”expert” per se in a certain field, they want to be your friend.
Jaclynkilfoyle: I respond to each comment & stay active on twitter, but it’s still hard
Parkeretc: Twitter is a shorter & viral form of blogging -constantly writing or tweeting about your expertise on a specific topic
Inspiredtoshare: For me it’s all about the conversation. I just want to talk to friends with similar interests on twitter!
Mspinkandblue: I think “thanking” people via twitter is a great avenue to engage in convo and meet new people
Thee_AOF: I noticed it helps following Tweeters that share my interest (fashion companies/magazines), it links me to others.
Hellosukio: I call it “Be the source.” Choose a specific topic 2 share info about Interested tweeps will follow!
Parkeretc: Fill out your bio.Leaving it blank or non-descriptive doesn’t encourage people to add you & helps you look legitimate
Amandagenther: I definitely think a niche is important. I notice that people I follow also follow a lot of the same people.
Thee_AOF: I find that when you promote others, they’re more likely to promote you.
Question 3: TMI? What will you or wont you share on twitter?
Thee_AOF: I try to keep it professional, but I think followers prefer seeing atleast a little personality…
Decormusings: It irks me when people are too negative on Twitter. I try to keep my tweets as upbeat as possible.
HisMrsHerMr: I think it’s nice when people share a little of their personal lives. It makes them become more relatable.
Hitchdesign: I try to keep deep personal opinions to myself and I hate complaining
Mclarkedesign: If you run a larger business you might want to scale your tweets back to a more filtered and professional level.
Bowtieandbustle: i avoid complaining about clients or current projects at all costs. if i need to vent i call a friend or bug my husband.
